Associate Professor of Ophthalmology, Harvard Medical School

Andrius Kazlauskas received his BS and PhD degrees in chemistry from Cleveland State University.  His graduate studies focused on signal transduction.  This field involves studying the intracellular biochemical reactions that are induced by growth factors and that then go on to direct cellular responses such as proliferation. Postdoctoral Opportunity

A major goal of the Kazlauskas lab is to elucidate the molecular mechanisms controlling vessel formation, stability and regression.  Our previous studies identified signaling enzymes that are responsible for formation and regression of vessels in an in vitro setting (J Biol Chem. 2007 Oct 5;282(40):29122-9; EMBO J. 2006 May 17;25(10):2075-82; Cell Cycle. 2006 Sep;5(18):2057-9).
An available project is focused on extending these studies to fully elucidate the pathway governing vessel formation.  More specifically, we will investigate the activation mechanism of signaling enzymes that induce vessel formation, identify the relevant isoforms and downstream targets.  Furthermore, we will use established ocular angiogenesis models to assess the relevance of these finding in an in vivo setting.
Interested individual should forward their CV, name of references and an outline of their research accomplishments and interests to Andrius Kazlauskas ( This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it )
